EU financial assistance available to local and regional authorities in Eastern Partnership countries

The CASE experts identified to which EU funds and programmes the sub-national authorities from the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries have access, keeping in mind that possibilities for cooperation vary by country.

The CASE experts prepared a study which describes the general features of funds in place at the EU and national level and suggest easiest ways of accessing these for the local and regional authorities in EaP countries. It took the CoR publication of 2015 as a basis and updated its content taking into account financial resources available within the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) for the current financial period (2014-2020) and eventual findings of its Mid Term Review.

The study covers other funding opportunities available within the EaP Flagship Initiatives, cross-border cooperation and other general EU programmes open to the EaP countries, including (but not limited to): Erasmus+, TAIEX, SIGMA, Neighbourhood Investment Facility (NIF), Horizon 2020, Creative Europe, as well as thematic programmes: the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights, Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace, Civil Society Organisations and Local Authorities, Human Development and Migration & Asylum etc.

The study was published in the form of an updated brochure to be used as a manual/guide for the associations of the local and regional authorities in the EaP countries.
