Two publications released within the SERVICEGAP project

In their two recent publications written in the scope of the SERVICEGAP project, Krzysztof Szczygielski, Wojciech Grabowski and Richard Woodward deal with firms’ innovation strategies.
In “Innovation and the growth of service firms: The Polish case”, the authors explore the influence of corporate innovation on a firm’s economic performance and employment. While substantial research has been done on growth strategies in the past, studying the link between innovation and growth is quite a new field of expertise. Specifically, the paper investigates the ways firms profit from organizational innovation, as well as the way this innovation influences the dynamics of employment under different macroeconomic circumstances.
The study “External vs. Internal Determinants of Firm Technology Strategy: Evidence from the Polish Services Sector” uses the insights from strategy research and innovation studies to address two principal questions regarding the technology strategy of a firm: what are the distinct elements of a technology strategy, and what are the strategy determinants? The novelty of this study is in particular the inclusion of internal factors affecting the firm’s technology strategy, an aspect rather unexplored by previous research.
