CASE and CASE Moldova are co-organizing a conference to present the results and recommandations of a study conducted by local and Polish experts as part of the "Social and Economic Impact of Migration from Rural Areas in Moldova. Support for the Moldovan Public Administration" Project.

The objective of the Project has been to design a general map of country emigration and indicators related to this phenomenon in rural communities. The outcome should facilitate the argument in support of the needs for a variety of government programmes in the social and economic area in Moldova.

The recommendations have been developed on the basis of a series of activities that included: (i) conducting a sociological survey; (ii) designing a software aimed at monitoring migration and at training the staff who will take over this programme in their respective institutions; and (iii) organizing a workshop in the town of Cimislia, during which experts had the opportunity to exchange their opinion/experience with local public authority and civil society representatives.

The Project is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland under the Polish Aid Programme for 2008.
