Beata Javorcik

Currently on leave from the University of Oxford, where she was the first woman to be awarded statutory professorship in Economics, since September 2019 Beata Javorcik has been the Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where she supports market economy development in 34 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Maghreb. Since 2016 she has been the director of the International Trade and Regional Economics programme at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. Having received a B.A. in economics from the University of Rochester (1994), she earned her doctoral degree in economics at Yale University, obtaining a Ph.D. in 1999.
