CASE is looking for a SENIOR ECONOMIST

CASE – Center for Social and Economic Research is a fast-paced yet small office comprised of economists, communications professionals, and business development experts.  As the number of projects CASE conducts is growing, we are currently looking for a SENIOR ECONOMIST.

The position involves undertaking high-quality and objective research and analysis in a variety of fields, including macroeconomics, labor economics, innovation, and/or energy. In particular, we are looking for individuals with experience of undertaking economic research based on comparative econometric analyses; specifically, we are looking for economists who can do policy related research, as applied to economic growth, development, or social issues.

We welcome candidates who are able to adapt their methodological and theoretical approaches to a broad range of areas. Individuals with strong formal training and a collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit are encouraged to apply. With many different projects going on at any one time, you will be as comfortable examining tax policy as setting social agendas as analyzing trade flows.

Along with good interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and to engage with a diverse policy audience.

If you like the ability to work on many different projects and have substantial autonomy to set a research agenda, but also like working in small groups, this position is for you.

Key Responsibilities


·         Lead multiple research-based initiatives in line with CASE strategic priorities ,

·         Expand business opportunities with various international and Polish donors, including the EC, WB, OECD and Polish Ministries,

·         Manage and deliver complex projects to quality, cost, and time standards,

·         Engage with senior policymakers and academics to further CASE mission,

·         Quality control of applications and budget,

·         Raise CASE profile through research activities including:

- External speeches and conference presentations,

- External publications including journal articles and opinion pieces,

·         Supervise junior staff and encourage their development.

Skills and Experience:

·         Good knowledge of quantitative methods of research in economics,

·         Excellent written and oral communication in Polish,

·         Very good knowledge of English,

·         Ability to write for various audiences,

·         Public speaking skills,

·         Problem-solving abilities and ability to multi-task and work flexibly in a fluid environment.
 

Qualifications:

·         PhD in economics,

·         At least 5 years’ experience in the research area.
